Life Flight® is a regional helicopter service designed to provide critically ill or injured patients rapid access to advanced life support care and rapid transportation to critical care facilities.
Geisinger Health System's Life Flight program currently operates aircraft from:
- Geisinger Medical Center, Danville
- Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Airport, Avoca
- University Park Airport, State College
- Williamsport Regional Airport, Williamsport
- 2003 Phoenix Road, Pottsville
All Life Flight helicopters are in operation 24 hours a day.
Life Flight team
Life Flight's crew consists of a pilot, flight RN, paramedic and in certain circumstances a flight physician or specialty nurse. The flight nurses have RN licensure as well as ACLS, CEN, or CFRN and pre-hospital RN credentials. The flight paramedics are trained in many aspects of neonatal, pediatric, and adult intensive care. The pilots are airline transport rated and instrument current. Our communication specialists are certified at the EMT or EMT-P level and experienced in communication and aviation subjects.

The aircraft transport patients from accident scenes or acute care facilities to Geisinger Medical Center or other facilities appropriate for the patient's condition.
