Geisinger Life Flight is equipped to handle any emergency situation, transporting the most critical patients from accident scenes to Geisinger Medical Center or other critical care facilities in the Mid-Atlantic region.
In addition to emergency response, Life Flight transports premature newborns, cardiac patients, critical care and organ transplant patients from local hospitals to Geisinger hospitals when advanced care is necessary.
The Life Flight crew consists of a pilot, flight registered nurse (RN), paramedic and in certain circumstances, a flight physician or specialty nurse. Our flight nurses are licensed RNs with additional licensure including advanced cardiac life support (ACLS), certified emergency nurse (CEN) or certified flight registered nurse (CFRN).
Our flight paramedics are trained in many areas of neonatal, pediatric and adult critical care. Our pilots are airline transport rated and instrument current. Our communication specialists are certified at the EMT level and experienced in Emergency Medical Service and medical communications in addition to being National Association of Air Medical Communications Specialists (NAAMCS) credentialed.
