Quality of Life Care

Geisinger’s Department of Palliative and Supportive Medicine offers pain relief and other symptom management for those with life-limiting or life-threatening illnesses. We are devoted to meeting the personal and medical needs of each individual, with the goal of providing the best quality of life possible for each patient.

Our physicians and nurses work closely with specialists from all clinical services and specialties to aggressively manage symptoms such as pain, nausea, vomiting, shortness of breath and other problems associated with advanced illness. We assist patients and families in developing a plan of care that is compatible with their needs and goals.

Our team cares for patients at home, in the hospital, or in an inpatient short- or long-term care facility. We can see patients and families in an outpatient clinic and will work with your family doctor or medical specialist to provide optimal treatments.

If you or a loved one suffers from a severe, life-threatening or potentially life-limiting illness, please call and learn how our compassionate team can be of help. Many times we can help put all the pieces together in a complex medical situation when multiple specialists are involved in the treatment of life-limiting illness.
