When You Need a Helping Hand

If you need financial assistance for prenatal care, or for after your baby is born, Geisinger helps you make the right connections.

The Healthy Beginnings Program (link to brochure PDF) is for those who have Medical Assistance (MA). You can receive coverage for, and transportation to, all your prenatal visits, low cost or free food, plus health education on:

  • Childbirth preparation
  • Parenting
  • Nutrition
  • Breastfeeding

The Women, Infants and Children (WIC) Program offers free nutrition counseling and food, as well as children’s immunizations, to those who qualify for its benefits. To be eligible, women must:

  • Live in Pennsylvania
  • Be pregnant or have had a baby in the past six months, or 12 months if breastfeeding
  • Have infants and children under age five
  • Meet income eligibility guidelines—a percentage of the US Poverty Income guidelines
  • Be a person covered by MA, TANF, and food stamps

To apply for the WIC Program, call the toll-free hotline, 1-800-WIC-WINS (1-800-942-9467) and you will be connected with the WIC office closest to your home.
