Junior volunteers distribute teddy bears to pediatric patients through the Smiles for Kids from Kids program at Geisinger Medical Center.
Geisinger has a variety of volunteer opportunities available for individuals of all ages and interests. Those able to share their time and talents can make an important difference in the lives of our patients, visitors and employees.
Volunteers serve as a link between the staff and patients, families and visitors by providing assistance in various areas of the hospital, including information desks, gift shops, surgical waiting areas, nursing departments, support services departments and pastoral care services.
These opportunities also provide a chance for volunteers to learn or develop new skills and interests, meet people, broaden career opportunities and gain hands-on experience in many different areas.
In the past year, more than 650 volunteers donated 121,000 hours of their time to benefit the hospital and local community.
Junior Volunteer Program (GMC & GWV only)
The junior volunteer program for youth between 14 and 18 years of age provides an opportunity for mature, young individuals to experience the personal satisfaction of helping those in need. In addition, it introduces them to the array of jobs that are available in the healthcare industry.
Individuals interested in the junior volunteer program must be available to fill at least one regular assignment during the summer from 9 am to 4 pm, Monday through Friday.
If you are interested in becoming a Geisinger volunteer, fill out the online application and we will contact you about possible opportunities that meet your availability and interests.
