Ellie Ritzman, 17, of Millerstown, was born with cerebral palsy with spastic quadriplegia, a diagnosis that means she will need special care for her entire life. She was born in distress at Geisinger Lewistown Hospital and was transferred to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Geisinger Janet Weis Children’s Hospital. Ellie has had numerous surgeries to help loosen tendons in her arms and legs and several surgeries to help with her bone development.

Ellie continues to work with physical therapy and occupational therapy on a regular basis. Through her determination and positive attitude, as well as the support of her family, Ellie is living a happy life and can walk with a little bit of assistance. She enjoys horseback riding, visiting with people and listening to music.
