SCRANTON, PA -- Srikanth Hosur, M.D., has been named assistant chief medical officer of Geisinger-Community Medical Center (G-CMC). Dr. Hosur, a G-CMC critical care specialist for more than a year, will focus on improving patient throughput and clinical quality.

A board-certified critical care and neurocritical care specialist, Dr. Hosur completed his critical care medicine fellowship at the Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minnesota, in 2009. He was formerly employed at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, Dallas, and was associate director at Questcare Intensivists, which served three major hospitals in the Dallas area.

Dr. Hosur will continue to provide patient care in G-CMC’s new state-of-the-art ICU, which opened to the public last month. The ICU, a major component of G-CMC’s $97.1 million expansion project, features 18 patient rooms with eICU capabilities and patient-centered improvements including private rooms and bathrooms and nurses stations outside every room.
