The sports medicine division of the Geisinger Orthopaedic Institute will host a speed and agility academy for student-athletes on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from June 13 through July 21.

The academy will provide a safe yet demanding environment in which athletes who have completed grades 9 to 12 can enhance their speed, agility, mobility and strength. All sessions will be held from 4-5:30 p.m. at Steph Pettit Stadium, near Nelson Field House at Bloomsburg University. The cost for the academy is $180 per athlete for nine sessions, $216 per athlete for 12 sessions and $270 per athlete for unlimited sessions.

The academy will be staffed by Geisinger’s highly trained athletic trainers who specialize in maximizing athletic performance while minimizing the potential for injury. The aim is to improve participants’ performance in any sport by administering baseline tests of running, strength and endurance in order to set and achieve attainable goals.

To register, call Gina Marotta at 570-214-7125 or visit and click on 2016 Speed and Agility Academy to print registration and pre-participation forms.
