FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

DANVILLE, PA --
Michael Suk, M.D., JD, MPH, FACS, Geisinger Health System Chairman of Orthopaedic Surgery and Geisinger System Services Chief Physician Officer, is one of 18 executives recently selected to participate in this year’s prestigious Baldrige Performance Excellence program.

“It is an honor to be selected as a Baldrige Executive Fellow,” said Dr. Suk. “I look forward to engaging with top strategists and business leaders from around the country, building relationships with my peers in the program and learning best practices to bring back that will help Geisinger build and sustain its long-term strategy.”

Over the course of the year, Dr. Suk, along with the other Fellows, will tour the sites of Baldrige Award recipients. They will study with the top leaders of world-class organizations to learn how they achieve strategic and operational excellence and stimulate innovation, and use the insights gained to tackle challenges and opportunities in their own organizations

“Dr. Suk is a valued member of our team who is dedicated to patient care,” said David T. Feinberg, M.D., MBA, Geisinger president and CEO. “I congratulate him on this well-deserved recognition and look forward to seeing what he brings back to our organization and the patients we serve.”

Dr. Suk led the development of Geisinger ProvenCare Acute programs in total hip replacement, total knee replacement, hip fracture and lumbar spine. Widely recognized for his expertise in new models for healthcare delivery and payment, physician engagement and leadership, he is a member of the board of directors for the Keystone Accountable Care Organization. In his role as Chief Physician Officer at Geisinger System Services, he serves as the key bridge between the Geisinger clinical enterprise and the health system’s operating infrastructure.

For two years in a row, the Baldrige Executive Fellows Program has been honored by the Leadership 500 Excellence Awards, an annual recognition of the world’s best leadership development programs and initiatives. The associated Malcolm Baldrige Award is given by the President of the United States and is managed by the National Institute of Standards and Technology of the U.S. Department of Commerce.
