Geisinger becomes the first member of Risant Health

DANVILLE, PA -- Debra Decker, LPN, ST, and Pamela Harris-Haman, MSN, RNC-NIC, CRNP, NNP-BC, recently won awards for excellence in nursing at the Nightingale Awards of Pennsylvania Gala in Harrisburg. Decker, who works at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, won in the clinical practice LPN category. Harris-Haman, who works in Camp Hill, won in the advanced practice RN category.

The Nightingale Awards of Pennsylvania is a non-profit foundation created to help recruit and retain nurses throughout the state. The awards honor nurses in nine categories, and winners are chosen from more than 100 nominations statewide.

Decker, who resides in Bloomsburg, is a surgical tech in the operating rooms at Geisinger Medical Center. Harris-Haman, who resides in Middletown, is a nurse practitioner in the neonatal intensive care unit.

April Cairl, LPN, a nurse navigator at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, was also nominated for the clinical practice LPN category.

"It's a great honor for our nurses to be nominated for this prestigious award," said Susan Robel, RN, BSN, MHA, NEA-BC, executive vice president and chief nursing officer, Geisinger Health System. Robel was nominated for a Nightingale Award last year in the nursing administration, executive or chief nursing officer category.

"Our nurses go above and beyond in patient care each and every day, and to be recognized for their hard work and dedication in front of their family, friends and peers, is a highlight in their nursing journeys," said Robel. "Our patients should take comfort in knowing we employ the very best nurses and I am proud to work alongside them."
