FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

WAVERLY, PA --
Marworth Treatment Center will now be called Geisinger Marworth Treatment Center to align with Geisinger Health System’s recent rebranding campaign. Nearly 35 years ago, Geisinger founded Marworth Alcohol and Chemical Dependency Treatment Center in Waverly, Pa., to provide residential programs for those struggling with addiction. Today, the treatment center is updating its name and logo to reflect its long-time connection to the health system based in Danville, Pa.

Geisinger Marworth Treatment Center continues to provide personalized residential and outpatient programs for adults using state-of-the-art therapeutic techniques, such as recreation therapy, expressive therapy, acupuncture, medication assisted treatment and more. Treatment involves patients’ family members, and Geisinger Marworth has specialized programs for healthcare and law enforcement professionals.

The new brand identity also emphasizes Geisinger’s system-wide message of “caring.”

“Caring has always been an important tenet here,” said Dominic Vangarelli, vice president of Geisinger Marworth and a certified alcohol and drug counselor. “We care for people at an extremely vulnerable time in their lives and help them reach toward recovery from addiction. Caring and compassion is entrenched in everything we do.”

As part of the Geisinger system, Geisinger Marworth is routinely involved in multi-disciplinary programs aimed at advancing addiction medicine and treatment for patients across the care continuum. For example, a Geisinger Marworth addiction counselor provides support for patients at several Geisinger primary care locations. Also, Geisinger Marworth provides training and ongoing educational opportunities for healthcare professionals in several disciplines, including psychology, pharmacy and pain management.

Historically, the estate served from 1931 to 1981 as the family home for three generations of the Scranton family. The name, Marworth, is derived from the first names of Margery and Worthington Scranton, parents of former Pennsylvania Governor William Scranton, who donated the property to Geisinger to help those struggling with addiction.
