DANVILLE, PA -- David T. Feinberg (right), M.D., MBA, president and CEO of Geisinger Health System, will deliver a keynote address at this year’s Becker’s Hospital Review meeting at the Hyatt Regency in Chicago, Ill., on Friday, April 29. Other keynote speakers this year will include former President George W. Bush, former Vermont Governor Howard Dean, and legendary NFL player and broadcaster Joe Theismann.

Dr. Feinberg’s presentation is entitled, “Caring: It’s Such an Old Idea It Almost Seems Brand New.”

“As healthcare continues to evolve in this country, it is important to show patients that healthcare providers truly care,” Dr. Feinberg said. “It’s about fostering and continuing a trusting relationship with our patients that is real and authentic. We need to remember that the reason we get up every day, every night, every weekend, every holiday is to provide incredible care to our patients.”

Dr. Feinberg is a leader in the healthcare industry, and was recently named to the top ten of Modern Healthcare’s 2016 list of the 50 Most Influential Physician Executives and Leaders. Dr. Feinberg was also named as one of the top 100 Most Influential People in Healthcare in 2015. He has also been the recipient of numerous and recognitions such as Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society, Medical Center CEO of the Year Healthcare Leadership Award, Leadership, Vision and Commitment Honoree by the National Health Foundation; Distinguished Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association, and the Cancro Academic Leadership Award from the American Academy of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry.

Geisinger Health System has been at the forefront of innovative patient care with initiatives such as MyCode, ProvenCare and ProvenExperience. The MyCode study, launched in 2014 , is a few steps ahead of the new federal Precision Medicine initiative, with close to 100,000 participants who have signed up to have their exomes – portions of the genome that provide protein coding – sequenced. ProvenCare is a multicomponent program proven to facilitate the delivery of reliable, evidence-based care. The model has reduced mortality, complications, length of stay and readmissions while reducing costs. ProvenExperience is a new program implemented by Dr. Feinberg that offers all patients a refund if they are not completely satisfied with their experience.
