Healthcare Global/Business Review USA magazines make GMC top-ranked hospital in Pa.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

DANVILLE, PA -- Geisinger Medical Center (GMC) was ranked fourth on the best hospitals to work for in America’s Northeast list compiled by Healthcare Global and Business Review USA magazines. GMC was the top-ranked hospital in Pennsylvania. It’s the second consecutive year that GMC has had those rankings on this list.

The list includes hospitals that “represent the best of strong credentials, rich history and a growing focus on how to best care for patients, all while promoting the highest form of employee satisfaction and work-life balance,” according to the corresponding article.

“Geisinger realizes that in order to provide world-class care for our patients, we need to work hard to provide satisfaction to our employees,” said Tom Sokola, chief administrative officer at GMC. “We are fortunate to have such a dedicated and committed team caring for our patients.”

The article cited GMC for growing from its original 70 beds into the nation’s largest rural health services organization. It also reported that the Level I trauma center has received Magnet designation for nursing excellence, was named a “Most Wired” hospital and designated as one of the safest hospitals in the country by The Leapfrog Group.

GMC was also cited for being one of the training campuses for Geisinger Health System’s neurosurgery residency program, which started in 2013. The program is one of just five neurosurgery programs added in the last five years in the U.S.
