DANVILLE, PA -- Geisinger Health System presents “A Century of Transformation and Innovation” Centennial Symposia, Thursday and Friday, Sept. 24 and 25, on the Geisinger Medical Center campus.

Geisinger President and CEO David Feinberg, M.D., MBA, will provide the opening and closing remarks both days and will also participate in a panel discussion on patient-focused health care on Sept. 25. Susan Dentzer (right), senior policy advisor to the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and a former health correspondent on the “News Hour with Jim Lehrer” on PBS, will moderate panel discussions throughout the Symposia.

Glenn D. Steele, Jr., M.D., PhD, chairman of xG Health Solutions and former Geisinger president and CEO, will participate in the panel sessions and also sign copies of his new book, “Reinventing Health Care: The Geisinger Health System 2001-2015,” both days.

The Sept. 24th sessions will highlight how Geisinger has shaped health care in its first 100 years and how it will continue its innovative spirit moving forward. Speakers will include Pennsylvania Department of Health Secretary Karen Murphy, R.N., PhD, as well as state lawmakers, university presidents and chamber of commerce leaders from throughout the region.

Events on Sept. 25 will focus on the national health care landscape. In addition to the aforementioned industry leaders, Geisinger executives will deliver talks on meeting the nation’s evolving health care needs.

“Over the last 100 years, Geisinger has had a profound impact on the patients we serve by providing innovative, high quality health care,” Dr. Feinberg (left) said. “This event will allow us the opportunity to honor Geisinger’s legacy of serving the community while charting the future direction of the national health care landscape.”
