Rosemary Leeming, M.D., named GMC chief medical officer

DANVILLE, PA -- Rosemary Leeming, M.D., has been named chief medical officer of Geisinger Medical Center (GMC) -- the first woman to serve in this physician leadership role in Geisinger’s 100-year history.
Dr. Leeming has served as director of Geisinger’s Comprehensive Breast Program since January 2014. In her new role, she will partner with Tom Sokola, GMC chief administrative officer, in leading hospital initiatives such as strategic planning and patient experience. In addition, she will provide direction to the hospital’s physicians across all specialties.
“Dr. Leeming is well respected by her colleagues and patients, receiving some of the highest patient satisfaction ratings among physicians in the system,” said David Feinberg, M.D., MBA, president and chief executive officer, Geisinger Health System. “I’m confident she can lead by example and further our mission of providing compassionate care in her new role.”
Prior to joining Geisinger in 2014, Dr. Leeming was the chief medical officer at University Hospitals Richmond Medical Center and medical director at University Hospitals Chagrin Highlands Breast Center in Ohio. She was an associate professor of surgery at Case Western University School of Medicine, Cleveland.
A graduate of the University of California, Irvine, Calif, Dr. Leeming earned her doctor of medicine at Hahnemann Medical College in Philadelphia and a master of science in healthcare management at Harvard University School of Public Health, Cambridge, Mass. She is board certified in breast surgery.
Dr. Leeming will continue to see patients in the Comprehensive Breast Program.
