FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

SCRANTON/WILKES-BARRE PA -- Following a decade of unprecedented growth and a commitment to providing specialty care to patients close to home, Geisinger Health System has launched a recruitment effort to hire more than 150 nurses in the northeast region.

“Nurses are at the heart of what we do,” said Angelo Venditti, RN, MBA, chief nursing officer, Geisinger Northeast. “Each day, Geisinger nurses strive to bring the highest quality, most compassionate care to those in our community. We are seeking more than 150 critical nursing positions to deliver care to those who need it most and to be part of a team that is continually seeking to improve patient care.”

The 150-plus jobs – which include options for experienced nurses and new graduates –are available in clinical and office locations in the cities of Scranton and Wilkes-Barre and include positions in all areas such as the emergency department, critical care, medical/surgical, telemetry and progressive care unit, among others.

“Our success is driven by our great people,” Venditti said. “We offer a collaborative culture guided by excellence in service, evidence-based research and innovation.”
Geisinger offers nurses a comprehensive benefits package, shared governance structure, tuition assistance, professional certification support, advancement opportunities and hiring incentives up to $15,000.

Geisinger’s recruitment efforts are bolstered by its dedication to quality and service, innovative use of the electronic health record and pioneering unique care models such as ProvenExperience, ProvenHealth Navigator and ProvenCare. Geisinger is also leading the nation in cutting-edge research in the realm of genomics. The health system’s MyCode Community Health Initiative currently has enrolled more than 110,000 participants, combining Precision Medicine with Geisinger’s long-established population health efforts.

Additionally, Geisinger’s commitment to medical education was reinforced by the addition of the Commonwealth Medical College, renamed Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine, to the Geisinger family in late 2016. As a teaching hospital, Geisinger trains more than 400 residents and fellows each year.

Viewed as a national model in providing both high-quality and cost-effective medical care, Geisinger is also unique in that it provides a health insurance product – Geisinger Health Plan – that currently enrolls more than 551,000 members.

In the last decade, Geisinger has grown from two to 12 hospitals, expanded its service area from 30 to 45 counties and nearly tripled its number of employees. Geisinger leverages an estimated $8.9 billion impact on the Pennsylvania economy. As a direct impact on employment, the health system has filled 444 new positions since July 1, 2016.

A national expert on improving the patient experience, Geisinger President and CEO David T. Feinberg, M.D., MBA, who is consistently named to the top 10 of Modern Healthcare’s list of the 50 Most Influential Physician Executives and Leaders, recently launched ProvenExperience, a radical program that offers refunds to patients whose expectations weren't met based on kindness and compassion.
