SCRANTON/WILKES-BARRE, PA. -- Timothy Ebbitt, M.D., has joined Geisinger Health System as a diagnostic radiologist specializing in neuroradiology. Dr. Ebbitt will see patients at Geisinger Community Medical Center (GCMC) in Scranton and Geisinger Wyoming Valley (GWV) in Wilkes-Barre.

Diagnostic neuroradiology focuses on imaging of the brain, spine, head and neck. Through interpretation of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and computed tomography (CT), neuroradiologists can aid in the diagnosis and treatment of conditions such as stroke, brain tumors, multiple sclerosis, cancer, epilepsy and back pain. Neuroradiologists work closely with other specialties including neurosurgery, neurology, neurosurgical oncology, otolaryngology, internal medicine and pediatrics.

Board certified in diagnostic radiology with additional subspecialty certification in neuroradiology, Dr. Ebbitt also performs diagnostic spine procedures, including lumbar puncture and myelogram. In addition, Dr. Ebbitt also interprets advanced MR techniques, including perfusion, spectroscopy and functional imaging. 

Dr. Ebbitt earned his medical degree from New York Medical College, Valhalla. He completed an internship in internal medicine at Richmond University Medical Center, Staten Island. He then completed a four-year residency in diagnostic radiology at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, and a one-year fellowship in diagnostic neuroradiology at Yale New Haven Hospital, Connecticut. Prior to joining Geisinger, Dr. Ebbitt served as a neuroradiologist at Consulting Radiologists, Ltd., Edina, Minnesota.

Dr. Ebbitt is a member of the American College of Radiology and American Society of Neuroradiology.
