STATE COLLEGE, Pa. – Geisinger Women's Health Department will host an open house in Geisinger Gray's Woods at 132 Abigail Lane, Port Matilda, on Tuesday, Jan. 9, from 5 to 7 p.m.  As part of its commitment to the community, Geisinger is expanding the midwifery program in the region.

Women from the community are invited to meet Geisinger's certified nurse-midwives to learn about their role, philosophy of care and how they collaborate with physicians to meet individual needs of each women and her family. Six midwives will be present at the open house.

“One of Geisinger's commitment when it merged with Lewistown Hospital in 2013 is to expand the services to meet the demands of the community not only in Mifflin County but in neighboring counties as well. The expansion of services within Women’s Health is one such effort. Geisinger Lewistown Hospital is also renovating the post-partum rooms at our maternity wards to ensure comfort for our mothers,” said Heidi Loomis, CNM, CRNP, Geisinger Western Region.

Patients will be able to receive their pre-natal care at Geisinger Gray’s Woods Clinic before coming to Geisinger Lewistown Hospital for delivery. For more information or to register please call 814-272-7713.
