SCRANTON/DANVILLE, Pa. – Mayur Amin, M.D., a musculoskeletal and wound care specialist, has joined the medical staff of Geisinger as a physical medicine and rehabilitation physician. 

Physical medicine and rehabilitation physicians –also called physiatrists- are trained to treat a wide variety of medical conditions affecting the nerves, bones, joints, ligaments, muscles, tendons, brain and spinal cord. Specializing in the non-surgical treatment of musculoskeletal injuries and chronic wounds that won’t heal, Dr. Amin treats patients with a variety of techniques that include compression wrapping, wound debridement and hyperbaric oxygen therapy, a treatment option which delivers high doses of oxygen to damaged tissue in order to optimize healing. He will see patients at Geisinger Community Medical Center (GCMC)’s Center for Wound Healing and Hyperbaric Medicine in Scranton and Geisinger Medical Center’s Wound Care and Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation in Danville.

Dr. Amin earned his medical degree from American University of the Caribbean, St. Maarten. He then completed an internship in general surgery at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, followed by a residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at Georgetown University’s National Rehabilitation Hospital, Washington, D.C.

Dr. Amin is a member of the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Association of Academic Physiatrists, Association for the Advancement of Wound Care, Undersea and Hyperbaric Medicine Society, and American Medical Association.
