Dr. David Feinberg recognized as one of nation’s top healthcare leaders
According to Becker’s, the list was comprised of those leading health organizations that are transforming healthcare in the U.S.
In recognizing Dr. Feinberg, Becker’s wrote: “Overseeing 13 hospital campuses, more than 30,000 employees, 2,500 providers, 500 residents and fellows, and 360 medical students, Dr. Feinberg is known as an innovative healthcare leader.”
Since becoming Geisinger’s CEO and president in May 2015, Dr. Feinberg has put the system focus on improving the patient experience. He has made it the stated goal that every Geisinger patient is treated with compassion, dignity and respect while receiving optimum care.
Towards that goal, Dr. Feinberg unveiled the health system’s ProvenExperience program in November 2015. The program offers refunds to patients whose expectations weren’t met based on kindness and compassion.
In May, Dr. Feinberg announced that the Pennsylvania-based health system will expand its DNA sequencing program from the research realm and into everyday, preventive, clinical care. The clinical program will build on the extensive innovations of Geisinger’s MyCode Community Health Initiative, which, when combined with its electronic health data, has powered a broad population-based genomics research program and brought actionable genetic health information to patients..
Dr. Feinberg earned his undergraduate degree at the University of California, Berkeley, and graduated with distinction from the University of Health Sciences/Chicago Medical School. He earned a Master’s of Business Administration from Pepperdine University.
Dr. Feinberg has previously been recognized as a “Physician Leader to Know” by Becker’s and was named to Modern Healthcare’s lists of “50 Most Influential Physician Executives and Leaders” and “100 Most Influential People in Healthcare.”
