LEWISTOWN, Pa. – Patients at Geisinger Lewistown Hospital are now treated to a new in-room dining menu featuring healthy and delicious meals. The new menu that was introduced in May consist of healthy and creative choices with gluten free and vegan options. The hospital menu is revised twice a year, in summer and fall.

"This will be a customized dining experience and it is designed to be healthy and delicious. We want to create a healthy community wherever we serve and this is one way of sending the message across that healthy food is delicious,” said Gregory Andrews, food service manager, Geisinger Lewistown Hospital.

The main entrees in the new menu include farmers meat loaf, grilled bruschetta chicken, pot roast, grilled salmon, roast turkey, panko crusted cod and personal pizza.

The new menu is designed to feel much more like dining at a restaurant or high-end hotel room service, with an eye on keeping it healthy. Most items on the new patient menu will also be available at the hospital’s cafeteria for visitors and staff.

Since Lewistown Hospital became a member of the Geisinger family in 2013, approximately $400,000 has been invested in upgrades and kitchen remodeling in food services to ensure patients and their family are served nutritious and delicious meals at the hospital.
