Epilepsy specialist joins Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – Neurologist David L. Ortiz, M.D., an epilepsy specialist, has recently joined the team of neurologists at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center.
Epilepsy is a neurological disorder characterized by recurrent seizures and is often associated with other health conditions. There are many reasons that seizures can occur, but the underlying cause is often unknown. Treatment options can include lifestyle changes, medication or surgical intervention.
Board eligible in neurology, Dr. Ortiz treats and diagnoses nervous system disorders including diseases of the brain, spinal cord, nerves and muscles. His clinical interests include surgical epilepsy treatment, the use of medical devices for neurostimulation in epilepsy, pharmacological management of epilepsy and advanced neuroimaging techniques.
Dr. Ortiz completed his neurology residency and fellowship training in epilepsy at the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis. He earned his medical degree from Michigan State University, East Lansing.
