CAMP HILL, Pa. – John Knapp, director of information technology at Geisinger Holy Spirit, has been recognized as a Certified Healthcare Chief Information Officer by the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME). 

“The pace of change in healthcare and technology today is exponential,” Knapp said. “The CHCIO program is the accelerator for IT leaders, and the bottom line is: patients are benefiting when hospital IT leaders are in the forefront of these changes.”

Knapp has worked for Geisinger Holy Spirit for 15 years, 12 of those in healthcare information technology.

To achieve CHCIO status, candidates must have at least three years of experience in the position, participate in programs and events that continue their education as an IT leader and pass a rigorous examination. Currently, more than 400 healthcare CIOs in 26 countries have earned the designation.
