Motorcyclists donate toys to Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre community

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – Over 60 motorcyclists from the N.E. Federation of Clubs (FOC) participated in a 55-mile benefit ride from the Poconos on Saturday, Oct. 6, culminating with a delivery of $1,100 worth of toys at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center's Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre campus.
“We look forward to this run every year,” said Nero Padilla, president of the N.E. Federation of Clubs, which is comprised of nearly 25 motorcycle clubs from the New York border, south to Philadelphia. “We have big hearts, so it’s especially fulfilling to know the kids will have gifts for Christmas.”
Local children will receive the gifts during a Morning with Santa community event sponsored by the GWV Auxiliary on Dec. 1.
“As the youngest of three boys, I was fairly young when I stopped believing in Santa. But after seeing this group of compassionate riders delivering bins of toys, I have a renewed faith,” said Ron Beer, chief administrative officer of Geisinger Northeast. “The FOC brings riders together from all over the area to ensure that every little boy and girl in our community can wake up on Christmas morning with a new toy. If that doesn't embody Santa Claus, I don’t know what does. It is a privilege to work with the GWV Auxiliary and the FOC for this event.”
The no-cost Morning with Santa event will be held at Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre, 25 Church St., Wilkes-Barre, on Dec. 1. Registration is required. Information is forthcoming and will be distributed to the community.
“It is truly a blessing to see a child’s face light up when they receive a gift at our Morning with Santa event,” said Lisa Stella, president of the GWV Auxiliary. “We are so grateful to the FOC for their generosity and support.”
