Geisinger becomes the first member of Risant Health

DANVILLE, Pa. – Dr. Sandra Culbertson, M.D., a board-certified urogynecologist, has been named chair of Geisinger’s Women and Children’s Institute. In this new role, Dr. Culbertson will not only oversee women’s services across the system but also the children services including general pediatrics and pediatric subspecialties.  

Dr. Culbertson will lead a highly trained, experienced and caring team whose expertise spans all aspects of women’s and children’s health across Geisinger. 

In addition to her leadership role, Dr. Culbertson also will be caring for patients in Danville and Wilkes-Barre, focusing on the treatment of recurrent urinary incontinence and prolapse.

Before joining Geisinger, Dr. Culbertson spent more than 20 years at the University of Chicago, where she was the vice-chair of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. While in Chicago, she was consistently listed as a “Best Doctor in America” since 2001 and was named a Chicago “Top Doctor” since 2014. 

Dr. Culbertson attended medical school at the University of Virginia and completed her residency and fellowship at the University of Chicago Medical Center.
