Geisinger becomes the first member of Risant Health

Geisinger Breast Care Center Kingston began seeing patients March 4

KINGSTON, Pa. – Blaum Breast Care Specialist, LLC, and its staff have joined Geisinger, and began seeing patients in March. Moving forward, the practice will be known as Geisinger Breast Care Center Kingston.  

Louis Blaum Jr., M.D., and his staff began seeing patients as a Geisinger service on March 4. They will continue to care for patients at the New Bridge Center, 480 Pierce St., Kingston location. Dr. Blaum will do his surgical work at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center in Wilkes-Barre and at Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre.

Services provided at the clinic include surgical consultation, high-risk breast counseling and referrals, breast biopsies and breast surgery for both cancerous and non-cancerous conditions.

“This addition allows us to offer expanded breast care services to patients and Geisinger Health Plan members in northeastern Pennsylvania,” said Mohsen Shabahang, M.D., PhD, chair of Geisinger’s Surgery Institute. “Dr. Blaum and his team share Geisinger’s commitment to high-quality and compassionate care to patients. We welcome them to the Geisinger family.”

Dr. Blaum is board certified in general surgery and thoracic surgery. He serves on the Board of Trustees of Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia and is a member of the American College of Surgeons, American College of Breast Surgeons, Society of Thoracic Surgeons, American Society of Breast Disease and the American Society of Breast Surgeons. He previously served as Director of Breast Surgery at Guthrie Clinic/Robert Packer Hospital.
