Health Network and Global Leader Expand Relationship to Transform Patient Care

DANVILLE, Pa. – Today, Geisinger announced a new 10-year agreement with Cerner Corporation (NASDAQ: CERN), a global health platform and innovation company, to expand its use of HealtheIntent® as the preferred data platform across its diverse care delivery network. Building on the value created and realized together over the last four years, Geisinger plans to extend actionable insights and intelligence from the Cerner platform across its clinical enterprise, accountable care organization (ACO) and Geisinger Health Plan. This expanded relationship will leverage open standards and integration capabilities to provide a seamless, integrated, user experience and help support care management, wellness services, population health management and consumer engagement strategies.

As health care continues to shift to value-based care for improved outcomes and lower costs, providers are increasingly turning to health network strategies to manage the health of patients across an increasingly complex and diverse technology landscape. Geisinger is taking advantage of Cerner’s robust intelligence and analytical capabilities to bring together the ever-increasing amount of data about its patients and health plan members.

“Expanding our relationship with Cerner and leveraging its capabilities across our health network will help create a better, seamless experience for our clinicians and help improve the personalized care we provide patients,” said Karen Murphy, PhD, RN, Executive Vice President, Chief Innovation Officer and Founding Director of the Steele Institute for Healthcare Innovation at Geisinger. “We expect to see continued and significant growth over the next decade as we work together toward innovation that shapes the future of health care.”

Geisinger and Cerner will create an aligned innovation team dedicated to the continued advancements of transformative health care solutions and new commercial capabilities, including advanced AI and machine learning.

“Geisinger is nationally recognized for building a system to deliver the highest quality, lowest cost care,” said Don Trigg, Executive Vice President, Strategic Growth, Cerner. “Cerner’s EHR-agnostic HealtheIntent had measurable impact on Geisinger’s business strategies.
