Geisinger becomes the first member of Risant Health

LEWISTOWN, Pa. – Geisinger Lewistown Hospital School of Nursing has climbed to the No. 2 spot among the best nursing programs in Pennsylvania, according to RegisteredNursing.org.

“This is great news not only for our school, but our community here in Lewistown. A world-class institution in our very own community makes us all proud. This is a well-deserved acknowledgment of the efforts and commitment of our students and staff for making our program one of the best in the state,” said Kirk Thomas, chief administrative officer, Geisinger Western Region.

This year, RegisteredNursing.org ranked the top 30 nursing schools out of the 78 Registered Nursing programs in Pennsylvania by analyzing current and historical “pass rates” from the National Council Licensure Examination. Programs reviewed include schools that offer a diploma in Nursing, associate degree in Nursing (ADN/ASN), BSN, or direct-entry MSN degree. Geisinger Lewistown Hospital School of Nursing joins Saint Francis University and Aria Health School of Nursing in the top three list.

"I am extremely grateful to the staff and students for putting their best foot forward. The Geisinger Lewistown Hospital School of Nursing gives students from across the nation a solid knowledge base and clinical exposure to produce competent and high-quality graduate nurses who are ready to practice in today's challenging healthcare environment,” said Maryann Brown, director, Geisinger Lewistown Hospital School of Nursing.

Brown said, “with qualified nursing students in higher demand than ever before, our 100 percent job placement rate is evidence that our graduates are entering the workforce as the most prepared candidates for these highly competitive positions.”

RegisteredNursing.org ranked Geisinger’s nursing school at No. 3 in 2019 and at No. 4 in 2018.

The school accepts students year-round with classes starting in August. Scholarships and financial aid are available for students who fit basic eligibility credentials. To learn more about the Geisinger Lewistown School of Nursing's nursing program, call 717-242-7930 or click here.
