The virtual commencement ceremony was designed in consultation with the Class of 2020. Many class members, wearing their regalia, were draped in the hood that signifies their degree by a loved one at home during the live-streamed event.

Steven J. Scheinman, MD, GCSOM president and dean, presided and Brianna Shinn, MD, GCSOM Class of 2016, offered greetings from Geisinger Commonwealth’s growing Alumni Society. The keynote speaker was Jaewon Ryu, MD, JD, president and CEO of Geisinger, whose address was prerecorded and posted online. Other prerecorded presentations include an invocation by Bishop Joseph C. Bambera; welcome remarks from GCSOM's board of directors by Mr. Robert Dietz; an address by Dr. Scheinman; and benediction by Rabbi Larry Kaplan. Recordings can be viewed at geisinger.edu/commencement.
