Geisinger St. Luke’s receives 2020 Press Ganey Guardian of Excellence Award
Recognizes achievement for sustained excellence in patient experience
The Press Ganey Guardian of Excellence Award is a nationally recognized symbol of achievement in health care. Presented annually, the award honors clients who consistently sustained performance in the top 5% of all Press Ganey clients for each reporting period.
Now open for a year, Geisinger St. Luke’s mission remains to advance care and improve the health of the surrounding communities. That mission continues to drive staff to provide the best patient experience possible.
“Each day our staff demonstrates a culture of care that puts the patients and their needs above all else,” said Gabe Kamarousky, president of Geisinger St. Luke’s. “We can’t be recognized for this award without our amazing staff and the support of our neighbors in Schuylkill and Berks counties who have been choosing Geisinger St. Luke’s for their care. We thank them for their continued trust in the care we provide them, and we are humbled and honored that our team was awarded this prestigious recognition in less than one year of operation.”
The criteria for the award are based on survey results including the likelihood to recommend, overall rating, and teamwork. These survey results are compiled from the various services offered at Geisinger St. Luke’s, including emergency care and inpatient care.
“The caregivers and staff of Geisinger St. Luke’s Hospital touch the lives of patients and their families in profound ways,” said Patrick T. Ryan, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Press Ganey. “This award reflects their deep commitment to listening to the voices of their patients and our shared mission to reduce suffering and improve the safety, quality, and experience of patient-centered care. I continue to be humbled and inspired by their heroic efforts to care for patients in the face of the uncertainty, stress, and fear brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic. Press Ganey is proud to partner with them in this noble work and we congratulate them on this tremendous achievement.”
Geisinger and St. Luke’s continue to bring care closer to home. In July, the Geisinger St. Luke’s Medical Office Building opened on the hospital campus. The outpatient services available there complement those in the hospital, including cardiology, gynecology, orthopedics, pulmonary, women’s imaging, spine & pain and sports medicine.
