New specialized senior care center opens in Schuylkill County

MINERSVILLE, Pa. – LIFE Geisinger Minersville opened Feb. 1, offering specialized services to help seniors live independently in Schuylkill County. The new facility is located on the second floor of Miners Lofts, 2 Lewis St., Suite 200, in Minersville.

LIFE Geisinger supports adults 55 or older who would otherwise be confined to a nursing home so they can continue to live independently in their own homes. As a full-service health system, the program provides specialized senior health and medical care, as well as a full range of daily activities to enhance participants' quality of life.

The new facility occupies the 11,750-square-foot second floor of Miners Lofts and includes primary care services with full exam rooms, recreational space, rehabilitation gym, bathing facilities, laundry room and serving kitchen. LIFE Geisinger Minersville will also offer support services for eligible residents at Miners Lofts.

Dr. Francis Braconaro, who practiced in Schuylkill County for more than 20 years, serves as staff physician for LIFE Geisinger Minersville.

Mid Penn Bank was the sole contributor to the project through Commonwealth of Pennsylvania’s Neighborhood Assistance Program and provided $1 million toward construction of the LIFE Geisinger facility.

When fully operational, LIFE Geisinger Minersville will have about 50 full-time employees and will offer services to around 150 residents in Schuylkill County.
