Geisinger Health Plan’s Medicare product named as one of the best in state by U.S. News & World Report
DANVILLE, Pa. – Geisinger Health Plan was recognized by U.S. News & World Report as the Best Insurance Company – Medicare Advantage 2023 in Pennsylvania for its Medicare Advantage HMO and PPO plan product lines.

U.S. News used data from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ (CMS) Medicare compare tool, including its star rating of each Medicare Advantage plan offered in 2023. CMS scores each Medicare plan from 1 to 5 stars in various categories. Geisinger Gold HMO and PPO products received 4.5 stars by CMS for the 2023 rating.
Geisinger Gold offers supplemental benefits and offers comprehensive health coverage with access to 29,000 in-network physicians, 3,000 pharmacies and 10 health centers.
In addition, any Geisinger Gold plan member can join a Geisinger 65 Forward Health Center. This program delivers concierge care focused on people age 65+. The health centers offer:
- Same-day doctor’s appointments
- Longer visits and 1:1 time with your doctor
- Social and educational activities
- A personal wellness plan with state-of-the-art fitness equipment, exercise classes and wellness coordinators
- Mental health resources, including therapists and online tools
Geisinger’s program data indicates participation in programs like 65 Forward reduces older adults’ hospital admissions by 15% and emergency room visits by 40%.
