DANVILLE, Pa. – In an effort to enhance patient care and increase accessibility system-wide, 3D mammography is now being offered at Geisinger Jersey Shore Hospital, Geisinger Medical Center Muncy, Geisinger Mt. Pocono, Geisinger Philipsburg Multi-Specialty Clinic and Geisinger Tunkhannock.

“Adding 3D mammography services in our regions allows us to increase patient access and improve outcomes,” said Timothy Murphy, M.D., director of women’s imaging, Geisinger. “Patients will no longer need to travel outside of the area for state-of-the-art breast imaging.”

This advanced technology offers greater accuracy in detecting breast abnormalities, including small tumors that may be undetectable on 2D mammograms. By providing a more detailed and comprehensive view, 3D mammography reduces the need for additional imaging and minimizes false-positive results.

3D mammography is located at the following hospitals, clinics and healthplex’s:

Geisinger Healthplex Woodbine Lane
Susquehanna Valley Imaging
Geisinger Bloomsburg Hospital
Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center
Geisinger Mt. Pleasant
Geisinger Viewmont Imaging
Geisinger Lewistown Hospital
Geisinger Lewistown
Geisinger Healthplex State College

Geisinger South Wilkes Barre will begin accepting 3D mammography patients later this spring.

Patients looking to schedule an appointment can do so through MyGeisinger or the MyChart mobile app or by calling 800-275-6401. Appointment times and availability vary by location.

Geisinger Shamokin Area Community Hospital will convert from 2D to 3D services as Geisinger continues to add 3D mammography throughout the service area making breast imaging more accessible to their patients.
