Geisinger hosting car seat checkup event
DANVILLE, Pa. — A free car seat checkup event will be held from 5 to 7 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 12 on the 2nd floor parking garage of Geisinger HealthPlex Woodbine, located at 16 Woodbine Lane.
The event, sponsored by Safe Kids Worldwide and State Farm Insurance, allows certified child paqssenger safety technicians to make sure car seats are properly installed, teach parents proper installation techniques and answer questions like the proper time to change car seats from rear facing to forward facing, move out of 5-point harness to a booster seat, or move from a booster seat to the vehicle restraint system. To ensure proper installation, parents are encouraged to bring their vehicle’s owner’s manual and car seat manuals to the event.
Event organizers will also offer a bounty for expired car seats for disposal. People can bring their unwanted, expired or unsafe car seats and receive a gift card reward.
