DANVILLE, Pa. – Geisinger Community Medical Center, Geisinger Lewistown Hospital, Geisinger Medical Center and Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center are accepting applications until Friday, Feb. 28, for the summer Junior Volunteer Program.
From June 16 through Aug. 8, teens between ages 15 and 18 can learn about careers in health care in this eight-week structured summer service program. By attending weekly interactive educational sessions, participants can experience a variety of hands-on service opportunities and explore health care career areas.
Volunteering gives teens experience and an exceptional learning opportunity while they give back to their community. Students are eligible to earn the President’s Volunteer Service Award for the hours they serve.
Interested teens should submit an online application, provide references, complete the interview process and commit to serving at least four to five hours each week during the eight-week summer session. A total commitment of 40 service hours, 16 educational hours and active participation during seven of the eight weeks is a minimum for acceptance into the program. The admission process is competitive and space in the program is limited. To apply for the Junior Volunteer Program at Geisinger, visit geisinger.org/about-geisinger/volunteer/youth-volunteer-programs and apply by Feb. 28.
