Applying for financial aid

To apply for financial aid at Geisinger College of Health Sciences, a student must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) each year. The federal school code for Geisinger College is G41672.

  • Students must file by March 1 to be considered for Geisinger College institutional aid. Late filers or an incomplete FAFSA can delay loan processing and could result in ineligibility for institutional aid.
  • In order to be considered for Geisinger College scholarships, the FAFSA must be submitted no later than March 1.
  • Some private scholarships may also require the FAFSA information. Additional information about applying for financial aid can be found in the Financial Aid Guidebooks.

Eligibility requirements

In addition to completing the FAFSA, students interested in federal and/or institutional funding must:

  • Maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress requirements that are published in the Financial Aid Guidebooks.
  • Be a U.S. citizen, be an eligible non-citizen with a valid social security number, or have a Permanent Resident Visa.
  • Be accepted for admission or enrolled at least half-time.
  • Not be in default on any loan or owe a refund on any grant made under Title IV at any institution. If you are in default of federal loan, find more information regarding the Fresh Start program.
  • Have financial need, which is defined as the difference between the cost of attendance (COA) and the Student Aid Index (SAI) for most Geisinger College scholarships.
  • Have a high school diploma, a GED, or a passing “ability to benefit” test result.

Some federal, state, private or other Geisinger College assistance programs may have different eligibility criteria.

Applicant’s total financial aid (e.g., loans, grants, scholarships) cannot exceed the institutionally determined cost of attendance for the program of study. Cost of attendance minus student contribution from the FAFSA determine the applicant’s eligibility for institutional based financial assistance. Cost of attendance minus any institutional based financial assistance and minus any other assistance you receive equals your eligibility for federal educational loans.
