NCQA releases the 2015-2016 Health Insurance Plan Ratings

DANVILLE, PA - Geisinger Health Plan's HMO, Geisinger Choice's PPO and Geisinger Gold's HMO are rated among the top private and Medicare health plans for quality and service by the National Committee for Quality Assurance's (NCQA) annual Health Insurance Plan ratings.* All three plans received a 4.5 rating on a scale of 5.

"It's an honor be recognized as one of the highest-rated health plans nationally," says GHP President and CEO Steven Youso. "Our employees work hard to make a healthy difference in the lives of our members. This rating is a testament to the dedication employees have to making sure our members have the preventive services they need to stay healthy and the care they need to manage chronic conditions such as diabetes and asthma."

NCQA began ranking plans in 2005. This year, NCQA changed the methodology and adopted an overall "rating" on a scale of 1 to 5 with 5 as the highest score. The rating is based on consumer satisfaction, preventive care, treatment, as well as NCQA accreditation. The information is available on NCQA's website,  www.ncqa.org.

"When a plan is highly rated plan like Geisinger Health Plan, it means our members receive better care," says John Bulger, D.O., MBA, chief medical officer. "We know how important health is to your family. That's why we collaborate with physicians to make sure parents remain on medications to prevent future heart attacks, children see their physicians regularly and receive immunizations to keep them healthy, and grandparents receive the care and support they need to help manage chronic conditions."
