After an unknown blood clot in her brain and her heart barely pumping, patient received a pacemaker and defibrillator
“She would come home exhausted and go to sleep, but we thought she was just tired from work,” says James Weissinger of his wife, JoAnn. After experiencing issues with her eye, JoAnn scheduled an appointment thinking she had a cataract. Little did she know that ophthalmologist Dr. William LeMasters would end up having nurses escort her to the Emergency Department at Geisinger-Shamokin Area Hospital when he realized something was not quite right. After testing, JoAnn found out she passed a blood clot in her brain and that her heart was barely pumping. She subsequently received a pacemaker and defibrillator and is now feeling much better. “If it wasn’t for Dr. LeMasters, I might not be here,” recalls JoAnn. “He saved my life.” #GeisingerStories
