"Our grand total was 357 warm, little welcomes. That's 200 more than my initial goal," says Jeran Anspach of the handmade, tiny red hats given out to Geisinger newborns. The administrative assistant for nursing education spearheaded the local drive as part of the American Heart Association’s 'Little Hats, Big Hearts' program to raise awareness of heart disease. “I started my journey with a simple facebook post, asking if anyone wanted to donate. Within a day, that post was shared over 600 times. I started collecting donations and began making hats, myself. Being a crochet newbie, it took me two hours per hat. But others wanted to help and there were so many donations of both completed hats and supplies. I never once thought I would receive the outpouring of support that I have from people all over - but especially from my Geisinger family. I can’t wait to see what this project holds for future years.” #GeisingerStories
