Longtime friend and co-worker donates kidney
“We matched as if we were sisters,” says Kelly Flowers, left, who donated a kidney to longtime friend and fellow recovery room nurse Lisa Stevens back in 2015. The two attended the same church, went on family trips together, and bonded on breaks. “We worked together for over 16 years so it makes sense.” Lisa had undergone a kidney transplant 20 years prior, but lupus once again reared its ugly head and caused the organ to once again fail. The plucky mom of five credits Kelly – a mom of four - not only for saving her life, but for giving her the chance to watch her children grow up. “Thanks to Kelly, I get to be a mom. A normal mom. And let me tell you, normal feels pretty good.” #GeisingerStories #DonateLife
