Geisinger becomes the first member of Risant Health

“I used to think drugs were fun and would take the pain away, but they actually made it harder," says 27-year-old Ashley Blewitt, who recently celebrated one-year of sobriety thanks to her stay at Geisinger Marworth Alcohol and Chemical Dependency Treatment Center. She turned to marijuana, pills and later hit rock bottom with heroin while hiding from her pain. After two unsuccessful attempts at other rehab programs, Ashley says "I was finally ready for help." Checking into Geisinger Marworth, she discovered structure, mindfulness and a "family" of fellow patients and staff at the stately Waverly facility that is observing its 35th anniversary. Through counseling, therapy, and even acupuncture, Ashley overcame her potentially fatal addiction. Today, she is thriving and working in the field of mental health with hopes of helping others who struggle with addiction. "I'm so grateful for everything Marworth has given me," she says. #GeisingerStories
