Geisinger becomes the first member of Risant Health

“He said, ‘If I’m the right blood type, I will give you a kidney.’” Carrie Flanagan gets choked up when she says the phrase, even now. She met Keith Schindler on a listener cruise for an internet-based talk show four years ago, one year after her kidneys started to fail. Diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at age 9, Carrie knew this was a possibility. Because of her blood type, she was told the wait could be 6 to 8 years for a donor. Although several people offered to help, it was ultimately Keith who saved her life. Now, Carrie and Keith are back to cruising, and she can’t say enough about her friend. “I wish everyone in the world was like Keith. He didn’t even have to think about it, he just wanted to help.” #GeisingerStories
