Junior Volunteer Program at Geisinger Medical Center
Becoming a junior volunteer is an excellent experience for teenagers between the ages of 14 and 18, who are interested in pursuing a medical, health-related or business career after high school. Volunteerism can broaden a young person's outlook and sense of responsibility. Our program provides a way for mature young people to experience personal and moral satisfaction by helping those in need. If you are interested in the junior volunteer program, please contact the GMC Volunteer Services Department at 570-271-8150 in January to receive an application for the summer junior volunteer program.
Volunteer opportunities are available through The Auxiliary at Geisinger Shamokin Area Community Hospital, an organization dedicated to promoting good will for the hospital. You can help with activities such as crafting, fundraising, event planning and service projects.
At our hospital in Bloomsburg, you can volunteer through The Auxiliary at Geisinger Bloomsburg Hospital. Auxiliary members assist at the information desk, emergency department desk or gift shop, staff health fairs, and help with fundraising activities and various other events.
Areas and departments that welcome volunteer assistance include:
At Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, the summer teen volunteer program for 14 through 18 year olds provides an opportunity for teenagers to observe and learn about healthcare careers while experiencing the satisfaction of performing service for others. Participants agree to a regular assignment during the summer from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.
You can find satisfying volunteer roles at the South Wilkes-Barre campus of Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center in either of the two retail shops - the Repeat Boutique and the Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre Gift Shop - or as a patient greeter and transporter. Qualified teen volunteers are invited to apply to the teen rehabilitation volunteer program which requires a weekend commitment once a month during the school year.

The junior volunteer program provides volunteer opportunities for youth between 13 and 18 years of age.
