Molecular and genetic basis of vascular disease

The purpose of this research study is to identify molecules or genetic variants that are associated with having vascular disease. Such research is needed for several reasons. The causes of these diseases are not known. There are no treatments for patients with these diseases except for surgery, or placement of a device such as a stent. Knowing the molecules or genes that are different in people with these diseases could lead to new treatments for these patients and might lead to new tests to diagnose patients that have or are at risk for these diseases.
