“I flatlined,” said Carol Tripp of Renovo, Pa. “They brought me back to life.”

Last winter, Carol was feeling tired and had trouble breathing. Over the course of a few months her condition got worse. “Walking was exhausting. I was in a wheelchair and tired all of the time.”

She knew she needed skilled medical care, so her husband drove her to Geisinger Medical Center in Danville.

“We arrived just in time. Three of my coronary arteries were blocked. My surgeon did a wonderful job. I received amazing care from all of the doctors, nurses and staff while at Geisinger,” she said.

After she was discharged, she did her cardiac rehabilitation much closer to home, at Geisinger Jersey Shore Hospital. “I didn’t even want to try to get on the equipment,” Carol said. “I was worried that I was too weak and wouldn’t be able to keep up.”

But she did.

Geisinger Jersey Shore licensed practical nurse and cardiac rehab staff member Christine McCracken said, “Carol listened to us and tried hard. She did great, and we are so proud of her and her progress.”

Carol arrived at Geisinger Jersey Shore Hospital in a wheelchair, and was walking 12 weeks later. She finished her cardiac rehab in May, and continues exercising three days a week at a local community center’s pool and gym.

“I’m just amazed by everyone who cared for me, and am very thankful that I went to Geisinger,” says Carol.
