Geisinger becomes the first member of Risant Health

“I want everyone to know, especially the dog handler, how much care and love her dog shared with me on that horrific day," says Valerie Simmons of Nescopeck.  Valerie and her fiancé Brandon had a long list of names they were considering for their soon-to-be-born baby girl, but hadn’t made a final decision before fate stepped in. A pregnant Valerie arrived at Geisinger Medical Center’s emergency room in extreme pain. At the same time, volunteer Arris Moser was walking through with her pet therapy dog, Ryley. “When we saw the dog we waved her over. Ryley stayed by my side, eased my anxiety and took my mind off the pain.” A few weeks later, when the couple welcomed their bouncing baby girl into the world, they named her Ryley, after the pup. “We are forever grateful to Arris and Ryley. They had a major impact on us during that visit to the hospital.” #GeisingerStories #PetTherapy
