Financial arrangements

Before you seek treatment within Geisinger, we suggest you contact your employer or private insurance carrier in order to confirm coverage and determine if Geisinger accepts your insurance. Click for a list of participating insurance plans.

Please note that you are responsible for all charges not paid by insurance. We accept personal checks and most major credit cards (American Express, Discover, Visa and MasterCard). If you are unable to pay your balance at one time, Geisinger will set up a payment plan for you. Contact the Patient Service Call Center at 800-640-4206 for more details.

Provider-based or hospital outpatient billing

If you received care at one of our outpatient clinics or doctors' offices ("provider-based locations"), you may see a facility charge on your bill as well as a professional or physician charge for outpatient services and/or procedures. If you have a question about these charges, please contact our call center and one of our coordinators will review your bill with you.

Depending upon your specific insurance coverage, it is possible that you may pay more for services and procedures at one of these locations than you would at one of our other sites. Most integrated health systems across the country have different costs for provider-based care at different locations. We suggest that you review your insurance benefits or contact your insurance provider to find out what your policy covers and determine what your out-of-pocket expenses will be.

Click for a list of Geisinger hospital-based locations.
