Geisinger becomes the first member of Risant Health

MILTON, Pa. – Geisinger’s Autism & Developmental Medicine Institute (ADMI), in partnership with the Central Susquehanna Intermediate Unit (CSIU), will host a free workshop on motivating students on April 28.

‘Motivate Me,’ a Pennsylvania Act 48 accredited training program for education professionals, will be presented by Geisinger’s Barbara Haas-Givler, M.Ed., BCBA and Cora Taylor, Ph.D.

The free training will take place from 9 a.m. to noon at the CSIU Conference & Learning Center, 90 Lawton Lane, Milton, PA 17847.

Part of Geisinger ADMI’s “From the Clinic to the Classroom” series, ‘Motivate Me’ will provide an overview of the principles of reinforcement and effective ways to motivate students.

Barbara Haas-Givler, M.Ed., BCBA is the director of education and behavioral outreach at Geisinger’s ADMI. Ms. Haas-Givler has extensive experience in special education, serving in many different capacities over the course of her career, including classroom teacher, administrator, educational consultant, and behavior analyst.

Cora Taylor, Ph.D., is a licensed clinical psychologist and researcher at ADMI. She completed her doctorate in school psychology at the University of Tennessee and a postdoctoral fellowship at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Dr. Taylor has experience evaluating children from birth through adulthood for a range of developmental disabilities, and providing treatment to children and adolescents with autism spectrum disorder.

Participants will be provided with resources to assist in the selection of appropriate strategies and tools to utilize with individuals or groups of students.
