I am pleased that the merger of Community Medical Center in Scranton and all of its affiliates into Geisinger Health System is now official—and we are moving forward at Geisinger-Community Medical Center with our plans to build programs, grow services, improve health outcomes and demonstrate value for the people we serve.
Robert Steigmeyer, who has led CMC over the past 18 months, has agreed to remain in his leadership role at Geisinger-CMC. His leadership has been and will continue to remain crucial in realizing our vision and implementing mutually developed program and facilities plans. I am delighted that Bob will work with me, the Geisinger-CMC senior management team, physicians and staff as well as with new Geisinger Health System colleagues in improving the health of the populations we serve, delivering great value to patients and employers, and positioning Geisinger-CMC as a regional and community asset.
This merger is good news for patients and the Greater Lackawanna community. Geisinger and CMC share similar not-for-profit missions, values and standards of care—as well as long histories of providing professional and compassionate patient care and serving the community.
This is only the beginning of our journey together, and we look forward to a bright future together.
Thank you. |
