For youth volunteers
Our Junior Volunteer Program (JVP) is a 6-week summer experience open to high school students between 15 and 18 years old. The admission process is competitive and space in the program is limited.
Apply online between Feb. 1 and Feb. 20, 2026:

Feb. 1 – Feb. 20
- Submit online application starting Feb. 1. A team member will follow up with next steps.
Feb. 20
- Deadline for returning JVP participants to notify staff of intent to return.
Feb. 23 – 27
- Submit your essay and make sure references are received.
March 16 – April 10
- Attend a group interview (evening or Saturday options available).
April 13 – 17
- Acceptance notifications emailed.
April 20 – May 1
- Complete a free Geisinger health screening, including drug and nicotine testing.
May 2 – 30
- Attend 1 mandatory orientation session: Scranton – May 2, Lewistown – May 9, Danville – May 17, Wilkes-Barre – May 30.
June 15 – 19
- Returning second- and third-year participants selected as JVP leaders attend 3 days of leadership training.
June 22 – July 31
- Program begins. Participants serve 6 to 7 hours weekly and attend at least 1 educational session (in-person or virtual) each week. Sessions run Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Added requirements:
- Complete required clearances upon turning 18
- Fulfill any additional training prior to service
- Meet Geisinger’s vaccination requirements
Service opportunities for volunteers under 18 are limited. You must complete the summer JVP before volunteering at other times.
