Before you start

  • Open this guide on the mobile device where you want to install and configure the app. 
  • The configuration links for Epic applications below only work on a mobile device.
  • Confirm you are using iOS 14 or newer or Android 8 or newer.
  • Have your Geisinger username and password ready.

Choose the app you need 

App  Device  Users or roles  Use 
Epic Haiku  iPhone or Android phone  Providers and Secure Chat-only users Send clinical messages. Review patient information, manage in-basket messages, dictate and electronically prescribe medications. 
Epic Rover iPhone or Android phone  Nursing and ancillary staff  Send clinical messages. Document on flowsheets, capture wound images, use Brain and access Dorothy Home Care.
Microsoft Teams  iPhone or Android phone  Everyone including providers and nursing  Send non-clinical messages to Geisinger employees. Mobile calling from colleague to colleague. You also need Authenticator and PingID with Microsoft Teams.

Install Epic Haiku

Use Epic Haiku on an iPhone or Android phone.

  1. On your phone, open the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
  2. Search for Epic Haiku.
  3. Install the Epic Haiku app.
  4. When the download is complete, close Haiku.
  5. Open this guide on your phone. Select Haiku Configuration -
    https://geisinger.org/haiku (app must be installed on mobile device for the link to work).
  6. Your device will be configured to access Geisinger’s environment and you’ll be directed to the app login screen. Once completed, the Geisinger environment will appear at the top of the app.
  7. Sign in with your Geisinger username and password.

Install Epic Rover

Use Epic Rover on an iPhone or Android phone.

  1. On your phone, open the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
  2. Search for Epic Rover.
  3. Install the Epic Rover app.
  4. When the download is complete, close Rover.
  5. Open this guide on your phone. Select Rover Configuration -
    https://www.geisinger.org/rover (app must be installed on mobile device for the link to work).
  6. Rover will open and connect to Geisinger. Once completed, the Geisinger environment will appear at the top of the app.
  7. Sign in with your Geisinger username and password.

Install Microsoft Teams 

Install and pair PingID before signing into Microsoft Teams (if it isn’t already installed or paired). You’ll need access to a computer when setting up PingID.

Install PingID first, if not already installed or paired

On your phone
  1. Open the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
  2. Search for PingID.
  3. Install the PingID app.
  4. Open PingID.
  5. If asked to allow notifications, select Allow or Turn On.
On your computer
  1. Go to https://myaccount.geisinger.org.
  2. Select Enroll in PingID.
  3. Select I’m ready for the next step.
  4. Sign in with your Geisinger username and password.
  5. Select Continue.
  6. Choose Mobile App as your PingID option.
  7. When the QR code appears on your computer, return to your phone.
Pair your phone with PingID
  1. On your phone, select Continue in the PingID app.
  2. On the Scan the QR Code screen, select Scan.
  3. Use your phone to scan the QR code on your computer screen.
  4. If a number appears on your computer, select the matching number in the PingID app.
  5. If the one-time passcode screen appears, wait a few seconds. The number matching screen should appear next.
  6. When pairing is complete, you are finished with PingID setup.

Install the Microsoft Teams app

  1. Open the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
  2. Search for Microsoft Teams.
  3. Install the Teams app.
  4. Open Teams.
  5. Sign in with your Geisinger email address.
  6. Follow the prompts to install the required security app for your device.
Device  Required app  What to select 
iPhone Microsoft Authenticator  Select Get the app, then install and open Microsoft Authenticator. 
Android  Microsoft Authenticator or Microsoft Intune Company Portal, depending on the prompt  Select Get the app, then install and open the app shown in the prompt. 
Finish Teams setup
  1. After the required app opens, sign in with your Geisinger account.
  2. Complete the PingID prompt.
  3. If needed, switch back to Microsoft Authenticator or Microsoft Intune Company Portal.
  4. When prompted, select Register to register your device.
  5. Return to Teams.
  6. If a message says your organization is protecting its data in this app, select OK on iPhone or Activate on Android.
  7. If Teams closes, reopen it.
  8. When prompted, create an app PIN. If your phone allows it, you may use fingerprint or facial recognition instead.
  9. Teams is ready to use.
